Sisters By a River by Barbara Comyns was a discovery in the Nottingham Oxfam bookshop. Along with a few other excellent looking additions to this list.
Review: An amusing and in places touching account of growing up in what was considered an eccentric family. Barbara Comyns apparently began writing this when she was a child as a solace for some of the harder moments. This explains some of the more idiosyncratic spellings. Apart from those, I really enjoyed this look at a family in the early part of the 1900s.
